Trivia[]

The services first opened in the 1970s/80s and was home to a filling station and a Little Chef restaurant. The Little Chef opened in 1980/81 and was known as the Astwick branch. It was positioned to the south of the services and was housed inside of a building with a flat roof.

Across the road from the services was Northway South Services which had the same type of facilities but the restaurant was a Happy Eater instead of Little Chef and there was also a hotel which was added to the site in the 1989. The hotel was branded as Travelodge. In 1996/97, the Happy Eater at the southbound services became Baldock Little Chef, giving Astwick a partner and the two services a dual sided Little Chef site.

In 2004/05, the Astwick Little Chef had closed and was left bordered up until 2009/10 when at this point it was demolished in order to make way for a newly designed BP filling station. The new filling station was much larger than the old one and looked far more modern too.

The Little Chef across the road had also closed but it closed much later than Astwick in 2010.
